My Project

This school year I have been diving into an article from the Cult of Pedagogy blog and reading 12 Ways to Upgrade your Classroom Design. The article covers 12 ways that you can upgrade classroom space to create a more learner friendly environment. Guiding the reader and 12 steps to take to create this environment that rethinks classroom spaces.

My goal is to create a space that meets the needs of all learners by creating a classroom that has flexible options.

One way I’m creating a more effective and efficient learning environment is by upgrading my seating options with more flexible seating options. Another way of upgrading my classroom is to narrow the color palette of the classroom by selecting three main colors to focus on creating a calming and inviting learning environment. This project does both.

When selecting options for my classroom, I thought about how we could utilize floor seating more effectively. Students enjoy sitting on the floor, but students don’t enjoy sitting on hard tile. This project includes different furniture pieces that students can use to utilize the more of the floorspace and a carpet to put under them. Through providing more flexible, seating options, I can create a more collaborative classroom space with a calming and inviting atmosphere.
