Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I work first grade students in a Title I school and I work hard at trying to make them feel welcome and safe to come to school to learn everyday. However, sometimes for whatever reason, they are not always in their best mood upon arrival or throughout the day so their way of asking for support is by lashing out at us in class or making unwise behavior choices.

My students could benefit greatly with comfy, flexible seating options and a floor lamp in our Peace Area.

Please help me make my students feel extra comfortable and give them a sense of belonging in our classroom. I’m asking for your help to fund my project for comfy, flexible seating options in our Peace Area where students can choose to sit if they feel that they need a moment to decompress or a minute to regain their composure.

The carpet dimensions will clearly define the Peace Area space and the lamp will help bring a softer lighting option unlike the harsh florescent ceiling ballasts. I also want to have folding lap desks that they can utilize while in the Peace Area to complete their work if they so choose. Lastly, I need a wireless classroom doorbell to help with chiming in schedule activity transitions for more efficient classroom management.

My students and I will be very fortunate if you can make a generous donation to help fund our project. Thank you for your support and commitment to helping me obtain much needed items in my classroom.
