This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach at a school that is in a low socioeconomic area. My kindergarten students are a big part of my team! They are primarily Hispanic/English Language Learners and African American. Currently, I have 9 girls and 9 boys. They come from very needy families and my goal each day is to give them enriching experiences while they are at school.

They are eager to learn, hopeful, and easily influenced by their surroundings.

They love to display their work on our walls for family and peers to see. They deserve all the support we can give them! We thank you in advance for your support!

My Project

In this project, I have asked for wobble chairs, kick bands, and peanut balls. In our classroom, we will use this to begin our collection of flexible seating options for our kindergarten classroom.

I have a very active group this year and I am trying to find ways where students can get out their energy, but still remain focused on the task at hand!

Other teachers at our school site have embraced flexible seating in their classrooms and it has been very successful!

I would like to give my students the flexibility to choose their type of seating so they can work independently with minimal distractions. I believe by giving them these options, they will take more ownership of their learning and create a successful environment in which they do their work.
