My Students

My students are energetic, enthusiastic and motivated fourth graders. They enjoy hands-on activities, sharing thoughts, ideas and showing their individuality while being apart of a larger collaborative. This population of students truly care about each other and will look for opportunities to brighten a classmates day. They brighten my day too with their desire to help out in whatever way that is needed, the stories they​ share of their weekend or other experiences and the warm greetings I receive when I see a student around town. Our school is in a small community in the Sierra Foothills.

My Project

Flexible Seating offers different types of seating beyond the hard plastic chair.

Providing choices when it comes to student learning is critical and it makes sense that a classroom that allows for and promotes choice when it comes to seating options for learning, helps to engage students, minimize behavior issues, increase attentiveness, and boost learning independence.

Currently, my goal is to have more tables than individual desks for times when a hard surface is needed. I like pillows and soft chairs for reading time and hard surfaces when students are working on their Chromebooks or with paper and pencil. My goal is to create a classroom that is inviting, inspiring and yet practical.
