Flexible Seating— Movement Without Distraction— Increasing Focus
Help me give my students choice. No one is meant to sit all day. Offering flexible seating, these options offer movement in ways that don’t distract other students.
My students are hard workers who love to learn. We are a four day school week so we have longer school days. In the afternoon that can get difficult for the kids. I try to include movement as much as possible, but I think by adding some flexibility seating it could also help with student focus.
These different flexible seating options meet the needs of different students.
Some flexible seating can be very expensive. I love the bands and the wobble supports that can go under the chair legs because they are affordable and I can use for multiple students. I love that these don’t make noise and that it is something extra for the kids to get energy out and still focus on their work. The standing desk is a big expense but is another option for students who feel they just can’t sit any longer. I also feel like these flexible seating options are easy to manage and teach students how to use appropriately while still focusing on their learning.
I know my students would be so excited to have these in our classroom. As the weather gets warmer they just want to be outside. Adding movement can help make the classroom a little bit better for them. Also well as help me give them the appropriate supports. I would be very appreciative.
