Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students are middle school learners in a historically under-resourced, lower-income community who receive speech and language services. Many benefit from structured supports that help them stay focused, engaged, and ready to participate during listening and speaking activities.

This project will create a flexible learning lounge that supports attention, self-regulation, and active participation during language-based instruction.

This project will provide:

- Standing desks to maintain alertness and engagement

- Walking pads for optional movement during independent or listening tasks

- Study carrels and portable room dividers to reduce distractions

- Chair bands for fidgety feet.

These supports allow students to choose learning positions that improve focus, listening stamina, and participation. For students with language and attention challenges, reducing distractions and offering movement options can significantly improve comprehension, memory, and expressive language.

Your support helps bring inclusive, developmentally appropriate learning supports to a community where resources are limited. With your generosity, my students will gain access to a learning environment that helps them engage fully and communicate with confidence.
