My Students
My students walk into our classroom every day full of life, ready to learn, and excited for what is in store for them that day. I want them to believe in themselves the way I do. The students in my classroom are comprised of general education students as well as students with various learning and emotional disabilities. On top of educational and emotional disabilities, many of them have experienced trauma in their lives and have difficulty coming to school.
With that being said, how can we close the achievement gap when students do not have the necessary materials to succeed?
The typical student in my class reads below grade level and many struggle with basic phonics and number sense. Their desire to achieve success in school is the driving force behind our desire to give them the world.
My Project
Flexible seating allows students to take charge of their learning and make the choices that work best for them. During independent work times they choose a location in the classroom that works for them. Ensuring that students are comfortable is an essential component in motivating them. The students are more engaged, and get more work completed than when they are just sitting at their desk.
My students are noticeably more engaged in their work and less disruptive of their peers when they are given a choice of where to work.
The products that I have selected will help my students by giving them additional seating options to make more effective learning choices. The 4 desk bundle allows the children to have appropriate height tables that can be grouped together in order to work more effectively during group work times as well.
I have seen how choice can positively affect my students work and demeanor and hope that the additional options will help us grow even more!
