Flexible Seating Makes Learning Fun!

My Students

My first grade class consists of 20 students. These 20 students come from diverse ethnic and economic backgrounds, and they exhibit varying academic abilities. Five of my students are ESL learners, which means they are learning the English language along with learning all of the subjects that are taught in class.

My students are enthusiastic and very eager to learn!

Some really struggle with concepts and need to be provided with diversified teaching methods to help them succeed.

Since more than half of our school's students come from low income families, many of my students do not have resources at home.

My goal as their teacher is to provide a classroom that provides them with new experiences, is warm and inviting, and provides an exciting and engaging place for them to learn. Each day I strive to meet the needs of many different types of learners in my classroom.

My Project

My students are active learners! They need to have a variety of classroom settings to facilitate their learning. Flexible and choice seating has been shown to improve student focus and motivation in the classroom. Today's students come to school with very diversified learning styles, and I am striving to provide my students with the type of learning that suits their needs. Just as some students' learning is enhanced by hands-on materials, some students' focus is enhanced by flexible seating options. The comfy seats and low table would enhance and supplement my other classroom flex seating options (i.e. crate seats, stools) and will allow my students to sit comfortably while they learn.

My students will be using these flexible seating options during whole groups, centers, and independent and group classwork times.

Students will be able to change their seats during transitional times throughout the day as well.

By donating to our project, you will not only help to improve and increase student attention and focus, you will ultimately help to increase their academic achievement!
