My Students

I teach at a Title I School in East Texas. We are a small community school and we are limited on materials. However, our school serves a free breakfast every morning to ensure that all students receive the nutrition they need to start the day.

I want my students to have all the materials they need to better their education.

I am a 2nd-grade teacher. My classroom consists of a wide variety of diverse students that come from small towns. They are a bright group of kids who are eager to learn and I want them to be able to walk into my classroom and feel excited about what is in store for them that day. Because they are from a small town, they feel the need to challenge themselves to the max to show their full potential. This is something we encourage at BES because we know that our students are capable of accomplishing anything they set their minds too.

My Project

Center time is the BEST time here in 2C but our seating arrangements around the room are not ideal for 2nd grade. Our classrooms are very tiny with limited space. We have these big bulky chairs that take up the majority of what little space my students have to roam the room during Daily 5. My students are constantly moving around the room between hands on stations on our carpet and our computer station where they are engaged in online learning activities.

With these new stools, my students will be able to transition from center to center with ease.

These stools will greatly benefit the flow of my classroom. When my students are participating in small group instruction at my horseshoe table, I won't have to worry about my students being uncomfortable while reading. Students will be more focused while learning but only if the stool fits.
