My Students

I am a 3rd grade teacher at a high poverty school.

I have 18 wonderful 3rd students. My school is a high poverty building that has many amazing teachers that go above and beyond to help all students. We are always working to make each child achieve success. My students are eager to learn and they love it by moving their busy bodies. I am trying to teach them to be life long learners, instill good habits, and teach them to be problem solvers. I want to be able to push them to their fullest potential and teach them to be the best they can be!

My Project

All of my students are amazing. My 3rd graders need to be actively moving to increase the level of attention and focus required to retain knowledge. Several students wiggle all day. My 3rd graders need to move a lot, but with increasing higher academic expectations, students are forced to sit at their desks for longer periods of time. I want to be able to provide more options than I have students to ensure multiple choices and areas in our classroom. The low table and chairs will allow students to wiggle in their classroom chair without disturbing those around them. The low table and chairs will also help children feel more comfortable when working on math and literacy. Students are then able to do their best and truly shine in the classroom.

The flexible seating will be extremely helpful to my students.

My 3rd graders will have the opportunity to channel their energy toward learning while seated. This will, in turn, aid in student engagement. The low tables will provide my 3rd grade children with flexible seating options that will allow them to learn in the way best fit for them.
