Help me give my students the option of flexible seating in my classroom with seating choices that will help to make them more comfortable while learning.
I teach a culturally diverse and economically disadvantaged group of students in the suburbs of New Orleans. We are a Title I school with 97% of our students receiving free or reduced lunch. Many of my students are entering the United States from Central American countries and this would be a way to help release their nervousness and anxiety in the classroom.
My students currently do not have recess within the school day, and the use of varied flexible seating will assist to provide an outlet for their energy.
By having these Wobble Chairs, Wobble Cushions, and Portable Lap Desks their needs will be better met.
My Project
These flexible seating choices have been proven to help improve concentration and focus in the classroom. They help to reduce restlessness, fidgeting and prevent boredom. The flexible seating choices also promote a healthy posture and keep the mind focused and the body engaged.
Statistics have shown that kids are able to focus more intently when they are comfortable in their learning environments.
The choices of seating, wobble cushions, surf desks, and active stools, will also provide a release for anxieties within the class that many of my English Language Learners have.
By offering flexible seating for my students, it will be a win win for my classroom environment.
