My Students

I work at a school district that serves a student community that is 90% Native American. They are respectful, motivated, and eager to learn. Due to the rise in Covid cases within our community, our school has moved to 100% virtual learning. In our classroom, my students feel heard, respected, and safe.

My Project

This couch will be a valuable piece in my classroom for many different reasons. Students learn in a variety of ways. I do not feel that students should be required to sit at a desk for the entire school day. With this couch, my students will be able to choose alternative or flexible seating options. They can work on the couch using lapboards or clipboards.

Students can also cozy up and use this couch as a quiet reading space during independent reading time.

I will also allow students to use this piece of furniture to sit on while we are doing whole group discussions and having detailed learning experiences. I want my classroom to be a warm, welcoming, and comforting environment for my students to come to. This couch will definitely be an asset to my room by allowing the flexibility to move around.
