Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My second grade dual language students are group of very enthusiastic, energetic and eager to learn students. Each child in my classroom learns in different ways that are each unique and wonderful. My goal is always to provide them with a variety of choice, flexibility with their learning and seating, and extended learning opportunities. Although you would not know it at first, many of my students' families face various challenges at home and at times their stress levels can bring anxiety into the classroom. This makes it hard for them to be successful learners. For this reason I try my best to provide them with stability, safety and a sense of community when at school.

With a classroom environment that offers support for students to relieve their energy, get sensory needs met, and provide choices to students, I will be able to create a safe, comfortable learning environment that will set them up for success!

In our classroom we not only learn academic content, but also learn social and emotional skills to help students cope with different challenges solve problems and resolve conflict.

My Project

I would like to provide my students with flexible seating options to maximize learning. Having six wobble chairs and three lap desks. will give my students different options that not only increase their focus and productivity, but also meets their sensory needs.

Some students need to be able to release energy while learning and flexible seating meets that need.

The lap desks will also give students a choice to work and learn on the floor individually or with a partner. Having different options will help my students take ownership of their learning by choosing what seat is best for them.
