Team Sisu is a busy, active group of twenty-five 4th graders in Southeastern Wisconsin. Students with a wide variety of abilities, cultures, socio-economic levels, and family structures are a part of our community, which is built on the belief that we can accomplish anything when we have grit, determination, perseverance, inner strength, and resilience (aka sisu).
We love collaborating and learning through projects.
We are active learners who like to DO and CREATE and SHARE. We love exploring our interests and wondering about the world around us. We also use technology to enhance our research and to share our learning.
My Project
My students have spent the last quarter researching the benefits of flexible seating, investigating types of flexible seating, calculating costs, and writing proposals.
We discovered that having flexible seating choices, such as wobble stools, can help students be more focused and engaged in learning and can even improve grades and test scores.
Flexible seating choices help in decision-making and problem-solving (now and in the future) and help students learn what works best for them. Flexible seating choices, like wobble stools, also improve physical health by allowing for movement and activity. Finally, flexible seating choices positively affect attitudes about school. Being comfortable and having choices makes school more fun!
Students evaluated each others' proposals, determining which was the best written and most convincing. The winning proposal touted the benefits of wobble stools. That is why we hope to get wobble stools for our classroom. Thank you for helping!
