My Project

I am asking for flexible seating like floor pillows, yoga balls, clipboards, and wobble cushions for my counselor's classroom. We have 236 students at our school from Kindergarten to 6th grade. As the school counselor, I teach social-emotional learning (SEL) lessons that cover emotional management, coping, and problem-solving skills.

Flexible seating research shows comfortable students are engaged students and engaged students learn better!

A 2012 study from the University of Minnesota found that students participated 48 percent more in discussions in a classroom with collaborative group seating versus traditional lecture-style seating, and also improved their performance on standardized tests. Students with sensory needs can benefit from flexible seating by stimulating their sense of touch, which can help them focus during lessons.
