This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students enter the classroom excited and ready to take on another day of learning adventures. They know they will be challenged and asked to dig deep and work hard. Despite challenges they face at home, they still arrive with a smile on their face, ready to be challenged, learn, and feel part of a family within the school's community.

Children are full of energy and naturally need to "wiggle." Studies have shown that sitting on a alternative seat, like a wobble stool, allows children to direct their kinesthetic energy and need for movement positively.

Those who sit on a stability ball or wobble stool, or other seating option, have to constantly move his or her body to maintain balance which channels energy toward focusing in the classroom. When students sit on a traditional chair, they often slouch, signaling their bodies to relax. When this happens, they tune out to learning! Sitting on a wobble stool forces people to use core muscles which results in being more attentive. Other classroom teachers that have replaced chairs with stability balls have noticed a marked change in their students behavior including those with ADD, ADHD and other processing disorders.

With your generous donations, my students will have an opportunity to remain focused and engaged while improving their core muscles.

Stability balls, seating disks, and stability balls with legs will allow my students to expend the extra energy they build up during the day.
