Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Our classroom is made up of 25 students from diverse cultures and learning needs. Our learning community is unique because we come from very different backgrounds and educational experiences. We embody difficulties in learning, hard work, determination, and both physical and mental limitations. Although we are a considered a general education classroom, our community is built of learners with severe social and emotional backgrounds, physical limitations, and academic abilities.
Our classroom has a loving and accepting culture and embraces the positive that each individual brings with them every day.
We strive to celebrate each other, building on what we CAN do rather than what we cannot do.
Each day we learn, laugh, listen, love, and enlighten one another to be the best we can be each minute of every moment. We look to encourage each other, rather than discourage each other.
My Project
Students sit up to six hours a day in a hard chair. However, allow students to rock, wobble and bounce and young minds become more focused and alert.
I expect students to solve problems, creatively write and complete assignments and stay alert.
But when student's chairs are uncomfortable, it's more difficult to get higher academic performance. Flexible seating is a game changer by increasing oxygen flow to the brain and improving core strength. All of this helps keep young minds more engaged and productive. A variety of seating options lets student choose a chair that best accommodates their learning style. Besides, its more fun to attend school when your chair isn't as hard as a rock. I've also included six flexible balls to demonstrate force and motion.
More than three‑quarters of students from low‑income households
