My students come from many different back grounds and home situations. They come from a mix of low to middle-income homes where both parents need to work. They work hard, they earn their own money, they take care of their younger siblings.
My students learn math best when they are comfortable.
During the 2020-2021 school year a lot of my students were on distance learning and staying home. While at home they had the opportunity to have flexible seating. When we returned to school a lot of students had a hard time staying in their traditional school chairs.
My Project
During the 2020-2021 school year, many of my students were at home learning due to Covid-19 . They had the option of finding a comfortable space to learn. Once back in the classroom, they had a hard time focusing on learning because of the rigid seating in the classroom.
The ball seats will give students in my classroom the option to have more comfortable and flexible seats.
Because students will be able to opt whether they use them or not, that should help them feel like the classroom is a more welcoming space designed with their needs in mind.
