This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are creative, thoughtful and full of questions. They are energetic and courageous bilingual or emergent bilingual students who they take chances and risks when it comes to learning a second language. They love reading fiction and non-fiction books.

My students are first graders who come from very diverse backgrounds.

They all have different strengths and they have learned to value each other's strengths and talents. *** CLARIFY ***Some students, who are high level readers, ask for help from their classmates who have great oral skills and vice versa. My students support and celebrate one another when they answer a tough math or Spanish question. They are a loving community of learners and they continue to learn to be patient and kind to one another. They are truly an inspiration.

My Project

"Flexible seating" is important because it allows students to find comfortable positions, which help them stay focus and learn. Beanbag seats will offer a comfortable place to seat when they are in their reading centers. The comfy floor seats will be used for students who need a change of learning space, moving them away from their desks so that they can do independent work. The giant comfy pillows will be used for reading centers. The wobble chair will be useful for high-energy students who need to move, channel their energy into something productive, and remain focused.

As a teacher, I care that all of my students' individual, day-to-day needs are met, which includes providing a comfortable learning environment.

These flexible seating options will go a long way towards ensuring that my students are in the best "position" to learn.
