I am about to begin my first year teaching. With that being said, I only know a little bit of information about my upcoming class. However, I am a strong advocate for Flexible Seating. I do know that they are a fun-loving bunch who loves to move. Giving my students flexible seating options such as wobble chairs and cushions as well as balance balls would give my students the ability and opportunity to not only make educational choices for themselves, but also allow them to be able to MOVE while they are learning.
I am so excited to meet my kiddos in August, and I know that they would be so excited to walk into their new classroom knowing they will have many options so that they can learn how they need to.
Being at a high needs school, I would love to be able to give my students the best opportunities for learning. I strongly believe that being able to provide them with Flexible Seating options will do just that.
My Project
I am a first-year teacher. I am more than excited to begin this journey, and I would love to be able to provide my students with flexible seating options. I would love to have differentiated seating in my classroom so that it will facilitate acceptable and responsible decision making by choosing a "best fit spot" for them.
Research indicates that when students are comfortable in their environment, they will be more willing and able to learn.
Many students need to be moving to keep their brain focused, that is where the wobble chairs and balance ball seats will come in handy! Often times, students are constantly moving or getting up and out of their seats, taking away from learning time. They do this simply because they need to move around. Having seating options that allows them to move, keeping their brain focused, means that there will be more learning and retention within the students.
