My Students
I am currently teaching second grade at a Title I Primary School in a small South Carolina town. My students come from various ethnic, economic, and social backgrounds. Some of them are considered at-risk students because they are below grade level in reading or math. They are some of the sweetest 8 and 9 year olds you can ever teach, and all work hard!
Technology is becoming an increasingly larger part of our world.
This is no different in my classroom. Our district was fortunate enough to get tablets for student use this year, and I cannot wait to see the change that this has on my instruction and the kids' learning!
My Project
I was fortunate enough to get some flexible seating options to start this school year! I only started with a few choices to see how they worked with the kids this year. After observing them for two weeks I know which options are working, which ones aren't, and which ones I need more of.
Having options allows my kids to take control of their own learning.
I have seen some of them become more independent in only two weeks. I need a few more stability balls for those students that need a little bounce to get that energy out. I am also requesting another yoga meditation cushion because the one I have is a classroom favorite! Finally, I am hoping to get some lap desks and floor cushions for those students who choose to sit on the floor, or for a few who need to be close to the board when copying something down.
