Help me give my students four wobble chairs to help them comfortably learn content throughout the school day. Flexible seating in the classroom has the potential to help keep students engaged in learning.
I teach kindergarten students (24) in a small agricultural/rural community. Kindergarten is such a fun grade to work with because they love all there Is to love about school, they aim to please, and strive to do their best. I love witnessing the “ah-ha” moments of my students when they finally master a new and challenging concept. 5 and 6-year-olds were made to move and enjoy learning. Wobble chairs will allow for some movement in the classroom. I enjoy setting up my classroom to ensure my students are comfortable, fully engaged, and seem as though they are playing and not “just learning.” The use of wobble chairs will allow all of my students the opportunity to stay engaged in lessons, and I can set my room in an exciting way for my students.
My Project
Imagine 5-year-olds starting school for the first time ever -- coming to a classroom where there are tables and chairs, and you are expected to sit still all day long. No moving... No talking... Just listening and completing school work. It doesn’t seem like an environment I would like to be a part of. By incorporating these wobble chairs into my classroom, I am creating an opportunity for more student engagement and comfort for my students. I am allowing those active students in my classroom the ability to move while learning. I have noticed that when students get the opportunity to sit in a variety of ways, they are more excited to complete the tasks before them. I need your help in creating an engaging and more comfortable learning environment for my students!
