My students take a class focused on media studies–online, on TV, and in print. They use video, graphic design, and photography to amplify their voices and tell their stories. Their work can be viewed on our student website at: www.BrentanoTellsStories.com
They have a lot to say–and, by giving them access to sophisticated tools they can have a seat at the table.
They make videos about everyday life, engaging in conversations about stereotypes and misreprentation in media, and learning the language of the camera.
We are excited to create a dynamic learning space in Digital Storytelling! This year, the classroom will offer more collaboration zones, mobile iPad stations, and calm-down tools. These materials will help set students up for success when working independently and in groups by offering more choice when it comes to seating. Last year, students had some options for different types of seating, including yoga balls, floor cushions, and stools, but we were unable to offer this for all students. These options helped students calm-down, focus, and excite them to learn! More wobble stools, wobble cushions, and chair stretch bands will give all students access to find a workspace that helps them learn best.
