My Students

I am a speech pathologist working with students in grades pre-k to ninth. These students are working on a variety of speech and language goals including articulation, syntax, vocabulary and speech fluency (stuttering).

Regardless of the areas of focus my students are working on, they are diligent and work hard.

They deserve to have materials that will make their therapy more enjoyable and efficient.

All of my students love to see their progress in real time as they work on their goals. They love to play games and interact digitally. My older students love efficiency as time missed from class is very valuable and rare.

My Project

Social and Emotional Learning is a new area of focus for our students in our school district. Speech therapy can be a difficult experience, especially when the hard chairs are too big and uncomfortable for the students. Students frequently resort to kneeling on their chairs, which becomes painful and uncomfortable. This makes the students lose their focus and motivation.

When students are comfortable and their seats are adjusted to their size, they are able to maintain their focus and learning can occur.

Adjustable bar stools can provide this comfort while customizing the height to the students' height. The backs on the bar stools will discourage kneeling, which will prevent pain on their sweet, little knees.

Adding adjustable bar stools to our classroom will not only increase comfort and promote learning, students will be motivated by the fun seating option. They will look forward to coming to therapy and being engaged in their own learning.
