My students need flexible seating so everyone will be happy, engaged in their work, and relaxed. No kids (or adults) should be expected to sit in hard chairs for hours at a time.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
We are a Title I school in Colorado, meaning we are a school in an area of low economic status. 100% of our students are offered a free breakfast in the classroom, every day. This is a great opportunity to ensure they can focus on learning and not worry about where their next meal will come from. They are extremely excited about learning, and I would love to offer them more resources to make their learning even more valuable.
Flexible seating has been proven to increase motivation and engagement.
I would like to offer different seating options for students to help them focus. Our world has changed, so should our classrooms.
My Project
Students, especially young students, are not meant to sit all day in the same place. They need to move and be comfortable. Brain research confirms that physical activity, for example, moving and stretching, aids in leaning. Learning is at its best when actively involved.
Flexible seating is a perfect way to keep students moving, involved, comfortable, and most importantly learning.
When sitting for long periods of time, fatigue can set in and learning takes a back seat. Take a moment and look at the research for yourself. Please take a moment and donate in order to create a better learning environment for my students!
The classroom equipment will support safe choice and learning.
The Active Learning Stools and the Kids Stay-N-Play Balance Balls will eliminate the constant leaning back in the chair and my fear of a kid falling and landing on his head. They are constantly leaning back in the chairs or balancing them on two legs. These stools will harness that energy into a safe outlet while they focus on their learning.
The Pacific Play Tents Kids 'Me Too' Dome Tent will be the perfect place to crawl into and lose yourself in a book, void of all distractions.
