My Project

Have you have been asked to work or sit in one chair, in one spot all day? Why do we ask this of our young students. We are learning more and more everyday about how students learn. One thing that has come from the research is the benefit of student choice when it comes to where they work.

Students learn when they are comfortable, engaged, and safe.

Providing students with different seating choices not only gives them agency, but it makes the classroom theirs. They become active participates in their own learning. With flexible seating comes responsibility and accountability which are skills that students will need as they grow up.

These flexible seating options are great for independent work and center time. I plan on uses these options to allow students to find the best working environment for them. During independent work time, they would be able to choice a seating option and a space in the classroom to complete their work. These options would improve student engagement and provide a learning space that is flexible for each student.
