This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students come from diverse cultural families, low socio-economic backgrounds and are all learning English as a second language. My school is Title I and provides free breakfast and lunch meal program to all students. For the majority of my students, my classroom is their first school experience and most enter with limited previous formal school experience.

My young students are very active and need constant movement to control their wiggly bodies.

My students come to school ready and excited to learn every day! They need flexible seating options in order to help them focus, control their naturally wiggly bodies and make the most out of their learning experience.

My Project

My students are very energetic learners who need constant movement in order to help them stay focused, release energy and learn! Students learn better with movement! In order to meet my students' specific needs as young learners, I have to provide a learning environment that is centered around their specific needs. Standard chairs and desks do not provide many opportunities for my students to move around and make individual choices on seating.

It is important for students to have independent choice making in order to make their learning environment meaningful and engaging.

With the stools, lap desks, wobble balls, and cushions students will be able to move, work together and be more productive in our classroom. These wobble stools, wobble balls, and cushions are designed for students to move without disturbing each other and give students a movement break while working. The lap desks will allow students to have a portable surface to work in any area of the classroom.
