My Students

My students are inquisitive and enjoy learning! My students love reading and math, and are learning to become writers. They benefit from movement, hands on activities, and books at their independent reading levels. My students are in kindergarten, first, and second grade so have had a challenging start to learning. As a special education teacher, my hope is to make learning as fun and engaging as possible!

My Project

Flexible seating allows students to take charge of their learning and make the choices that work best for them. During small group instruction and independent work time, we frequently work on the carpet. Making sure students are comfortable is an essential component in motivating them to focus and do their best. I have noticed amazing differences in my students when using wobble stools at their table space. This project will extend the flexible seating options to the floor with the floor seats with backs and the textured pillows.

My students are noticeably more engaged in their work and less disruptive of their peers when they are given a choice of where to work.

The products that I have selected will help my students by giving them additional seating options to make more effective learning choices. The comfy floor seats and the pillows will allow for additional comfortable floor seating options. I envision using the floor seats for small group instruction - reading, math, and social skills! At other times students can use the floor seats, pillows, and clipboards for independent work and reading. These are also easy to clean!

I have seen how choice can positively affect my students work and demeanor. I hope that the additional seating options will help us grow even more!
