Our third graders are a wonderful group of students. There is a diverse group of different demographics with a lot of them being English speakers of other languages or ESOL for short. They love to read. Whenever they are given time to pick centers, a majority of them chose to read. They are always craving information and they don't hesitate to ask a question.
These third graders enjoy going on an adventure through the stories that they read.
I love to incorporate science, history, and other subjects into my English Language Arts (ELA) block and these students are able to quickly make connections across subjects.
They enjoy being goofy and love to have fun while they are learning. They will quickly help one another when they are lost and they are always ready to assist me in anything that they can.
Providing flexible seating as an option for my students will permit them to feel more comfortable thus increasing work productivity. Floor cushions, as a seating option, allow students to sit still and in their own space while learning. By giving each child their own space, or in this scenario, it allows them to successfully navigate social situations in our classroom i.e. keeping hands and feet to themselves, visual cues to keep their bodies to themselves. These seat cushions are great for multiple purposes in our classroom not limited to the classroom library, whole group instruction on the rug, and alternate seating during independent work.
