My students need stools to help provide flexible seating in the classroom. We also need to update our classroom library since moving from second grade to third grade. My students need access to higher level texts and Scholastic News magazine.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are absolutely wonderful! We spent last year together in second grade, and now are moving as a team together to third grade. All of my students come from low-income households and from neighborhoods near our school. My school is dedicated to ensuring that all students have life-long success in academic and social-emotional learning.
Even though my students have several poverty factors working against them, we believe that they CAN and WILL learn and reach their full potential.
We work hard every day to make sure that this happens. I have watched them grow so much over the last year and am excited to see what they will accomplish in third grade!
My Project
Since I worked with my students last year, I have become aware of their needs and am confident that these materials will help us reach our goals in the classroom!
The materials in this project will empower my students by giving them choices and options in their learning environment.
I have noticed that my students enjoy moving around the room and being able to work in areas that are different from the standard desk and chair. Students can use the stools as alternative seating. Providing flexible seating, new and different book choices, and Scholastic News magazine will allow my students to choose the most effective seating and reading choices for them.
