Help me give my students new seating options. Bean bag chairs will create a cozy spaces to cuddle up with a good book and bouncy chairs give the active kids an option to move and still stay focused. They also need a computer microphone.
My students are growing and learning in the same school district that inspired me to be a teacher. They walk into our jungle themed classroom every day full of life and excited for what the day may hold.
They like to move and they love to read around our classroom.
Instilling a love of learning and reading is very important to me. Also, encouraging my students to be respectful and responsible humans is a big responsibility. It is so great to have the opportunity to impact the children at such a young age.
My Project
Flexible seating allows students to take charge of their learning and make the choices that work best for them. During independent work times they choose a location in the classroom that works for them. Currently my students are choosing to work in a variety of locations in our room such as: at different tables, sitting or laying on the floor with a clipboard, or in a limited amount of bean bag chairs I currently have. Making sure students are comfortable is an essential component in motivating them. I have noticed amazing differences in my students when they are given a choice in their seating.
My students are noticeably more engaged in their work and less disruptive of their peers when they are given a choice of where to work.
The products that I have selected will help my students by giving them additional seating options to make more effective learning choices. The beanbag chairs will allow for additional comfortable floor seating options. They are lightweight and can be easily used in many areas of the classroom. The bouncy chairs help those kids who need to get the wiggles out and need physical stimulation throughout the day. The microphone I selected will help monitor our noise level by using a visual display on the smartboard. Therefore when working in small groups or teams, they will be able to self monitor the volume level so they do not disrupt the others around them.
