Flexible Seating for the Flexible Classroom

My Students

I have an great group of 28 first graders this year. I have 14 girls and 14 boys. I have two students students diagnosed with ADHD and two students on the Autism spectrum. I also have two English Language Learners. All of them came to me in August at a variety of levels and all have made progress and are learning.

Each student has a unique learning style that keeps me constantly updating and leaning new techniques.

This year I have a mix of artists, singers and athletes. I have a couple of divas who wowed me with their performances singing and acting out the numbers on the first day of school. I have a thinker who wanted to know why we don't have meteorite drills and another that was convinced we were not animals, we were beans, "Human beans". I love my class and their amazing abilities.

My Project

What is your favorite way to sit? My favorite is with my legs folded up under me. The traditional desk and chair only allow a few children to sit in comfort throughout a very long school day. I would like to by some flexible seating options so that I can provide seating for my students.

Flexible seating allows children to move and change according to their mood and needs.

I want to get pads that can be put on the floor and children can sit comfortably on the ground. I also would like to get crates that can be used as stools. These crates/stools are very versatile doubling as storage space and a seat.
