My students need the chance to work in an environment that is best suited for their needs. Having flexible seating in the classroom, specifically the futon, stability balls, and cafe table will help foster student collaboration.
I have a classroom full of students who love to learn! They love to collaborate and work together to solve problems. Not every student learns the same way. I want my students to have the opportunity to sit in a place that fits their individual needs best.
My students need the opportunity to thrive in a comfortable, student-centered environment.
I currently do not have the necessary furniture in my classroom to accommodate these needs. We live in a very rural community where students come from all walks of life. I want to create a classroom that gives them the chance to accomplish their goals.
My Project
I teach math to the entire fifth grade. Each of my students learn in different ways. Giving my students a choice in how they learn will create a classroom full of engagement and interaction! Having the ability to pick how and where my students learn is my goal.
Flexible seating gives my students the opportunity to work in a student-centered environment that allows collaboration, engagement, and problem-solving to grow.
Some kids enjoy stability balls to stay focused in their learning, while others would love the choice to sit on a futon and collaborate with other students.
My goal is to give my students a variety of options in where they sit to best help them stay engaged, focused, and successful in all that they do!
