My class of 22 Pre-K students are active and eager to learn. They are a diverse group of learners who thrive when they can move and manipulate materials to develop their motor skills, social skills, and academic skills.
Play that involves self-selected activities is an essential part of a Pre-K classroom.
We are a Title 1 school district in rural Oklahoma. We are in a military community and over 53% of the students in our district receive free and reduced lunches.
My Project
My Pre-K students are very active learners. While I give them lots of opportunities to move around, sometimes we need to be able to sit on the carpet and follow the listening plan. This can be very challenging for some students. My students need to be able to wiggle and wobble while the listen to a story being read or participating in a lesson.
Research shows that movement helps to increase oxygen flow to the brain and use up excess energy!
The wobble cushion and stabilizing balls would allow my students to move around while sitting. This will help them to become better listeners and decrease negative behavior. My students need this!
