Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach fourth-grade students who are monolingual and bilingual students who have been learning Spanish since Kindergarten. My students have a special bond because they have been with the same friends since Kindergarten. Students who attend my classroom come from all over our neighboring cities and town to have the opportunity to learn another language.
My students have a love of learning because they attend a bilingual school.
These students want an opportunity to grow as a citizen in their community by learning two languages.
My Project
With the flexible options for seating, students will be able to choose how they want to learn. Whether they are sitting in a chair, on a ball, standing up, sitting on the floor, or even laying on the floor. Students will be empowered to choose and not sit in the same chair all day. Not everyone can hold focus sitting the same way every day all day, we are all unique that way. This is another way to engage and challenge the learner in multiple subjects and can even change around their seating throughout the day!
As mentioned before, everyone learns differently.
Some people learn visually, some hands-on, some audibly. Same goes for focus; we all focus differently. Having a variety of fidget toys will keep students engaged in their learning while keeping their hands busy. Classrooms are not as structured as they were before and giving the students an opportunity to choose how they want to sit, will make a positive impact on their learning.
