All of my students receive special education services. My students work hard and want to learn, but their learning is hindered by things out of their control. While our school is in a wealthy area, 80% of the students in my class receive free or reduced lunch. Many of my students are bused in because their home school does not have a special education program; we are always happy to welcome them to our classroom.
Our school is unique because we have a large gate program as well as a large special education program.
My elementary does an amazing job at reaching a child right where they are.
My Project
My students need flexible seating choices to help find a spot that works best for them. My students often struggle staying seated in a standard chair for long periods of time.
These stools, medicine balls, wiggle chairs, and bean bag chairs will help my students focus less on staying still, and more on their learning.
These seating options allow students to be in control of choosing where they learn best. Students will be able to get their wiggles out on a wobble chair, stand at a standing desk, or relax in a bean bag. They will also gain valuable life experience in learning to take turns and sharing the different seating options.
