My students need some flexible seating when they come to the speech room. Many general education classrooms have flexible seating and I have seen how this can benefit all students!
The students that come into my classroom are hard-working, goal driven students. I want them to come ready to work and ready to have fun!
My students range from 3 to 11 year olds or anywhere from preschool to the fifth grade.
They work on very specific goals in a small group or 1 on 1 setting. In our society today many students have a difficult time paying attention to the direct instruction. Much research has been done to show how flexible seating can benefit students to help them focus and learn. Our school is full of a diverse population of students who may have attentional or other learning concerns. Many of them have experienced trauma in their lives and have difficulty coming to school. My classroom serves students with a range of disabilities, including intellectual disabilities, emotional disturbance, autism spectrum disorder, specific learning disabilities and speech and language impairments.
My Project
My students are used to having flexible seating options in their classrooms. I would love to be able to carry this over when they come out of the classroom to work on their communication!
I am requesting flexible seating to use with all of my students.
I want to have the best learning opportunity each day as part of our language experience. Flexible seating is a great way for my students to be the best learners they can be.
Having flexible seating will help my students become ready for their targeted speech and language goals. My students need to have many opportunities around our school to use flexible seating and I have been impressed with the way they choose to sit on different seats and can still be great learners!
