Help me give my students the opportunity to learn while being comfortable using wobble cushions, yoga circles, reclining seats, butterfly stools, and wobble stools.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are little, but they can accomplish many things! The majority of my students come from low income, high poverty families. We are a title 1 school, in Baltimore City. Despite these challenges, I hope to give these children the same experiences students of the same age group get in other districts.
My students constantly look out for each other and encourage each other to strive.
In addition, my students are very compassionate and understanding for others needs. They share everything: school supplies, books, and even clothing.
Many of my students have experienced challenges in their lives, but still come to school everyday ready to grow and learn. My students work harder than most to over come the barriers they face, in order to be successful!
My Project
Young students often have a difficult time learning while sitting in traditional school chairs. Movement can help students stay focused and enhance their learning.
Studies have shown that the more students move the more engaged in learning they are.
This also allows students the freedom to choose where they work, creating a comfortable learning environment. BY having their choice of seating, it allows students to take ownership of their learning and behavior. This type of knowledge helps establish decision making skills.
The products that I choose will give my students options that will allow them to wiggle while they work and spread materials out across different areas in the room.
