Our school is a Title I school with a high poverty rate located in Central Florida. My students are naturally curious and ready to learn. For many of my students, this is their first time in a school setting. This is an exciting and new experience for them.
Our class serves students with a range of special needs, including intellectual disabilities, emotional disturbance, autism spectrum disorder and other specific learning disabilities.
I currently have nine students who are eager to learn and challenge their disabilities while preparing for kindergarten. My students are ready to learn, and they are naturally curious to explore the world around them while preparing for kindergarten.
The book nook will provide an area for my students to go and look at picture books as well as some storage for our classroom books. This will help to provide an enticing area for students to work on pre-literacy skills and a fun plac to listen to stories being read.
The desks will provide my students with a defined seat during circle table as well as a flat surface to hold their tablets when we are doing activities with our interactive white board.
These additional seating options will help to provide a more inviting classroom environment to my students particularly during circle time and center time.
