This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I would describe many of my students as enthusiastic learners, ready to learn every day! Along with being very enthusiastic, they are also very energetic.
Help my students have some control of their environment by providing flexible seating, allowing them to most of all be comfortable; it is no surprise that physical activity is needed for higher academic success.
I seek to help them become as successful as possible. This is truly my calling. I enjoy walking into my classroom every single morning. My greatest highlight is when I see that light-bulb turn on when a student has acquired a new skill. This is what I live for!
My Project
We are a 2nd grade classroom with the smaller chairs that are meant for Kindergarten. Throughout the school year, I have noticed that many, if not all of my students have struggled in seating on the tiny chairs. My students are growing, therefore they need movement. I provide several short breaks such as, GoNoodle breaks, stretch breaks and short recess going outside at least once a day.
It's clear that my students need another seating option that will allow them to become alert and focused, rather than distracted because of their discomfort.
