That's the number of chapter books that were read across our kindergarten thru 5th grade school in the month of February. 246 books, 246 entries, 246 chances to win the fabulous prizes that were donated through this project.\r\n\r\nReading at our school is a challenge on many fronts. There are nearly 20 languages other than English spoken at home, and at least half of our students receive ELD services. We're also a Title 1 school, which means our families face tough economic obstacles that we know can impact school achievement. And, like every other teacher and librarian around the country, I am battling the ever enticing and stimulating world of screens.\r\n\r\nThe goal of this challenge was to excite kids about reading but also push reading stamina. Most classwork revolves around short passages or stories, and this gave the kids something deeper to work through. During the challenge, our school also sent out weekly messages to families with tips and information about reading and literacy to promote the challenge and encourage more reading at home. Their enthusiasm and commitment showed their interest, and kids were thrilled to be a part of a fun school-wide event. \r\n\r\nThis wouldn't have been possible without your donations, and I truly appreciate your support of Hartley Elementary and the amazing students.","fullyFundedDate":1768177199380,"projectUrl":"project/inspire-reading-through-art-science-/9992414/","projectTitle":"Inspire Reading Through Art, Science, & Games","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Dutro","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-10_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9456238"},{"teacherId":6853146,"projectId":9811237,"letterContent":"thank you so much for your donation!
