Flexible seating for My Kg. Classroom! Happy Brains Learn!
My students need a classroom with seating options that meet their individual needs. I have some wiggle worms that need a choice to stand up, sit or bounce! An uncomfortable child can’t learn!
I have 21 students in my kindergarten classroom in Camden, New York. My students come from a variety of different backgrounds. Most are low income and receive free breakfast and lunch. Our Elementary is known for incorporating many research-based strategies in order to help our students achieve success. Flexible seating is one research-based strategy that is known to help create the best learning environment for our students. Students will have a choice of seating when doing individual or group work so they can find which seating works best for them.
My Project
Traditional seating is quickly becoming a thing of the past. Research shows that students engage better in their learning by standing, sitting on the floor, laying on the floor, moving or sitting in a comfortable chair. Through modeling, trust and teaching, I will show my students how they can figure out which options best suit their learning so they can be successful. With the help of your donations, students will have a choice of sitting on yoga balls, fidget seats on the floor, standing at a desk, or using pillows. They will also have the choice to move if their seat isn’t working for them. I would very much like to give my students the ability to use a variety of flexible seating options.
