My Students

I am a Technology/STEAM teacher. We are starting a new Social Emotional initiative in our district. Our school serves students in grades 3-5 and provides rigorous academics and fantastic teachers. We have a wide variety of learners and are always trying to push our students to believe in themselves and reach for the stars.

I am looking to transform my technology lab into a safe and warm learning environment for all students.

Our students are learning self-management strategies during Social-Emotional Learning; they are practicing the Zones of Regulation and are trying to make good choices for how to self regulate.

My Project

Sitting in a chair for most of the school day can be quite a challenge for any elementary student. Making flexible seating available will encourage students to generalize the idea that reading can be a comfortable activity, especially for students with learning challenges.

That is why I would love for my students to have the opportunity to choose from a variety of comfortable seating options like the beanbags and the comfy floor chairs to help them stay focused on their learning and make responsible choices for there learning.

Giving students a chance to collaborate in a comfortable setting will inspire students in a unique and inviting environment. The seating can also be used to help create and maintain positive behavior systems in the classroom, by setting goals and parameters and offering choices.
