My Students
I facilitate the learning of twenty-five 5th graders. They are from low socioeconomic neighborhoods and most qualify for free or reduced-priced lunch. My school houses close to 800 students from TK-6th grade.
They make me smile amid the challenges encountered in education.
They are the reason I dedicate my days to making certain they receive the tools necessary for being creative and original.
Most of my students love to extend their learning outside of the school hours. Many attend after-school programs to enhance their love for maximizing the most from the world.
My Project
Having an extra wide couch for reading will allow my students to enjoy stories as if they were in the comfort of their own home. Delving into the realm of imaginative narratives and real life facts in a comfortable setting helps children to enjoy themselves. Many of the fifth graders in my class do not read on their own unless reminded, coerced, or it’s made mandatory during Accelerated Reader time. With flexible seating, this could change significantly. Most students are looking for an environment that is environmentally stimulating. I am hoping to have 80% of my students proficient by the end of the school year with this project.
