My Project
In our Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten special education classroom, we are seeking support to implement flexible seating options, specifically scoop rockers, to enhance our students' learning experiences. These lightweight, ergonomically designed chairs are ideal for young learners, providing a comfortable and supportive seating choice that encourages focus and engagement.
Our students face unique challenges related to sensory processing and attention.
Traditional seating arrangements often do not accommodate their need for movement and sensory input. Flexible seating options, like scoop rockers, offer a solution by allowing students to engage in subtle movements that can help them self-regulate and maintain focus during activities.
Some of the benefits that we hope to see from the scoop rockers include an increased focus during whole group instruction, sensory regulation, movement options for our little wigglers, and support for our different learning styles.
The scoop rockers will be strategically placed in our whole group areas of the classroom where students will engage in lessons, including morning meeting, reading, math, and science/social studies daily. Each student will have access to a scoop rocker, allowing them to choose a seating option that best supports their learning and sensory needs. Teachers will monitor and guide students in using the rockers appropriately to maximize their benefits.
