Your support means so much to me and to my incredible group of literate littles.\r\n\r\nThe cleaning wipes have helped us maintain a safe, healthy, and welcoming classroom environment — something that's especially important for young learners as they build daily routines and learn how to take care of their space and each other. Having these supplies readily available has allowed us to stay focused on learning without the worry of hygiene or illness disrupting our day.\r\n\r\nThe Crayola markers have been an absolute game changer for my students. With bright colors and easy-to-use tips, these markers have opened the door for more expressive writing, vibrant artwork, and engaging language-building activities. For many of my students who are learning English as a new language, drawing and coloring help them make connections, express themselves, and build vocabulary with confidence. Whether we're labeling pictures, creating sentence strips, or illustrating personal stories, your gift has brought both joy and academic growth into our classroom.\r\n\r\nThank you for helping create a space where my students feel proud, inspired, and ready to learn each day. Thanks to your contributions, our Pre-K/Kinder special education students now have access to a variety of tools that significantly enhance their learning experience.\r\n\r\nThe classroom trampoline has become a favorite among our students. Our students are able to get their wiggles out and return to their assignments with a better focus. This addition to our classroom has made a remarkable difference in maintaining attention and engagement. A surprising little note on what the trampoline has brought to our classroom - two of our students who have struggled to learn to count all year became counting stars as we used our trampoline to count our jumps! \r\n\r\nThe carpet chairs have increased our student engagement on the carpet from 70% to 100%!! Our students love our flexible seating options! \r\n\r\nLast but not least, our students love our sensory tools! They have been so helpful for them as they learn to self-regulate as well as wind down as they start naptime. My students go looking for them every day when we turn off the lights for naptime. \r\n\r\nYour kindness has not only provided materials but has also fostered an environment where every student feels valued and capable. The Soaring into 2025 project provided daily classroom materials for students to use. This includes supplies like left-and-right handed scissors, and mesh pouch zippers that students use to store their daily learning tools. Learning workstations have also been replenished with counters, masking tape, and wooden puzzles. The resources funded through this campaign were essential for classroom use and not tied to a single project. \r\nThe students were left to discover the new classroom resources in their own time. They were excited to see the new mesh zipper pouches that could store their journals and daily writing utensils. It took them longer to notice the new scissors, which were better at trimming paper during our craft-oriented learning workstations. The scissors were a great addition And there was a natural excitement to play with the wooden alphabet and number puzzles. Often in Pre-kindergarten, foundational learning feels like play to the children. Their alphabet and numerical recognition skills have improved greatly. They can now dedicate time to piecing together puzzles and saying the numbers, letter names, and sounds aloud.\r\nThe students will continue using the craft supplies and daily school supplies, with the mesh bags filled with the supplies outlined in the lesson plans. The puzzles will stay in circulation with learning stations as we integrate numbers in higher-level math concepts and continue reviewing letters as we move towards blending sounds and improving reading skills.","fullyFundedDate":1735051687313,"projectUrl":"project/soaring-into-2025/9010648/","projectTitle":"Soaring Into 2025","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Rodriguez PreK","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8526786_orig.jpg?crop=2812,2812,x57,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1660427621239","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/arodriguez-prek"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_18048","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":853,"numTeachers":55,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":2,"percentBlack":7,"percentWhite":0,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":89,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"15.5:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":66.2,"schoolId":18048,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Sylvan Rodriguez Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Sylvan Rodriguez Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/texas/houston-independent-school-district/sylvan-rodriguez-elementary-school/18048"}
