My Students

My students are at an exciting point in life. They are in their first year of middle school! This new experience provides them with a renewed excitement for learning. I have the privilege of teaching math.

I would like to capitalize on my students' renewed joy for learning, by making math more engaging for them.

I have found that many students who previously felt they were "bad" at math and did not like it, enjoy it once they experience success.

My Project

I love having my desks in groups. It allows my students the opportunity to work together. They learn to collaborate and communicate, to problem solve, and to become a contributing member of their group and our classroom community. However, there are occasions when their individual knowledge needs to be assessed. The students are best able to focus when they are spread out and free of distractions.

Flexible seating will provide my students with the opportunity to have a place, free of distractions, to focus on their assessment.

I believe that this will provide my students with the opportunity to perform their best, since they will not have any mental energy being absorbed by other students working in close proximity. The clipboards will allow students to show their work with ease in their flexible seats.
