This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My classroom is a fun-loving environment, filled with students who take care of each other. We are a family who encourages one another. Every day we work diligently to overcome our learning disabilities. Our motto, "Fair isn't always equal, it's getting what you need." Each of my students has a learning disability that makes it difficult for them to achieve general education standards.

The majority of my students are English language learners which compound their learning difficulties.

My students work hard every day to find success in classes they find challenging. Traditional instruction is hard for them to understand but using technology always makes them excited about learning. They are learning 21st-century skills such as email communication, media literacy, web-based​ research, coding, word processing and much more.

My Project

Students in our special needs program need alternative seating to help promote movements and comfort when working on research projects, college applications, scholarships, and their coursework. These chairs will help our students who spend hours in classrooms be comfortable, while also helping more active students engage their bodies in movement to help keep their focus on their schoolwork. This helps them focus on minds and energy on their school work rather than any discomforts they are having with their seating. For our students, it is incredibly important to have the ability to move while they are learning and while they are creating work. We strive to have the most suitable classroom environment that ensures the best opportunity to meet their needs.

When our students are focused on the excess energy they are holding they are less able to focus on learning or creating quality work. This project will allow students to be the best version of themselves in a successful environment.
