My students are a mixture of juniors and seniors attending a school in a lower socioeconomic school district. They are a diverse group with post-secondary aspirations they are striving to achieve. For some of my students, they will be the first in their family to graduate high school and others will be the first to attend college. Throughout the day, I see anywhere from 100 to 130 students who all want to be successful by using and showing off their specific talents and strengths in a safe, comfortable learning environment.
Flexible seating allows students to take charge of their learning and make the choices that work best for them. During independent work times they choose a location in the classroom that works for them. Currently my students are working in student desks that are bulky and hard to use in a student-centered learning environment. Making sure students are comfortable is an essential component in motivating them.
The products that I have selected will help my students by giving them additional seating options to make more effective learning choices.
The high bar stools will be put a tables in the back of the classroom and will facilitate in group work and discussion. The comfy floor discs and the beanbag chairs will allow for additional comfortable floor seating options. They are lightweight and can be easily used in many areas of the classroom.
