My energetic 2nd graders enter the classroom ready to learn, collaborate, and teach one another. Each of my 25 second graders has his or her own uniqueness that contributes to our diverse learning community. I love what each of my students brings to our classroom.
By providing flexible seating choices for independent work time, my second graders will continue to be engaged and successful.
My students have shown much more interest in their learning when they are given choice on a daily basis.
By providing flexible seating choices, my students are given the opportunity to learn in an environment that meets their individual needs. Currently during independent work times, students have the option to choose space in the classroom that works for them.
There are a variety of working areas in our classroom such as different tables, sitting in a scoop seat, sitting on the carpet with a clipboard, or sitting on a stool.
Making sure students have different options for seating is an essential component to motivation and engagement in the classroom. As choices for flexible seating, the wobble chairs and balance balls will help my students maintain focus while working independently and getting those wiggles out.
